From Binghamton to the Heights of West Point: Elizabeth & Michael’s Journey

At Ashley Film Studios, we live for the stories that remind us why we picked up a camera in the first place. Every so often, we meet a couple whose connection is so effortless and enduring that the film practically edits itself.

Elizabeth and Michael are that couple. From the rolling hills of Binghamton to the dramatic cliffs of the Hudson Valley, their journey is a beautiful testament to a simple truth: When you find your person, no distance is too far.

A Spark in Binghamton

The best love stories often get a little nudge from those who know us best. Elizabeth and Michael’s path first crossed in Binghamton, thanks to a thoughtful introduction by Elizabeth’s sister.

What started as a simple lunch date quickly evolved into something much deeper. There were no grand cinematic gestures required—just an instant spark and the quiet realization that they had found something rare. As Elizabeth puts it: "The rest is history."

Love on the Move: The Two-Hour Commute

True love isn't always convenient, but it is always worth the drive. For a significant chapter of their relationship, Elizabeth and Michael navigated a two-hour distance. Their story was soundtracked by the hum of tires on the highway and miles of changing scenery.

Those four-hour round trips were more than just commutes; they were the building blocks of a relationship rooted in commitment. Every mile driven was a conscious choice to be together, proving that distance is just a number when you’re heading toward your future.

The Proposal: A New Tradition at Bonticou Crag

Every year, Elizabeth and Michael trek to New Paltz to hike Bonticou Crag. It’s a place of tradition and breathtaking views—and now, the site of their most cherished memory.

High above the Hudson Valley, Michael asked Elizabeth to spend the rest of her life with him. It was only fitting that the mountain they return to year after year became the literal high point of their engagement.

The Wedding: Timeless Elegance at The Thayer Hotel

When it came time to say "I do," the couple chose the historic and majestic Thayer Hotel at West Point. It is hard to imagine a more picturesque setting for a union.

  • The Atmosphere: A seamless blend of timeless elegance and storied military tradition.

  • The Portraits: We explored Trophy Point, capturing moments that felt less like wedding photos and more like fine art.

  • The Backdrop: With the Hudson River winding below and the mountains stretching toward the horizon, the scenery mirrored the very peaks where they first got engaged.

Watching Elizabeth and Michael walk hand-in-hand overlooking the water, it was clear that the days of "long car rides" were finally over. They’ve reached the summit together, and the view from the top is spectacular.

Dreaming of a Hudson Valley Wedding? At Ashley Film Studios, we specialize in capturing the authentic chemistry of couples like Elizabeth and Michael. Whether you're hiking a crag in New Paltz or celebrating at the Thayer Hotel, we’re here to preserve the magic.
